Gold OR CHROME Plating on PLASTIC

Gold Plating on PLASTIC is a question we get asked every so often.

This is because of misinformation being passed out.

Some people get confused between PLATING and PAINTING. The words sound similar but are not the same!

For CHROME painting, we could talk about MAGIC CHROME or CHROME MAGIC and still not be talking about Chrome Plating.

MAGIC CHROME would be a proper reference name for a CHROME PAINT.

From what we read, and after checking with the company, we find that there are CHROME PAINTING systems available from a company that specializes in CHROME PAINT systems, the ALSA Corporation in California..

The average price for a Chrome Painting system is in the $8,500 range and the company representative tells me it has a high learning curve. Meaning it is not simple to do. I am sure you could learn how to do it.

The same company also offer a simple process to give a mirror chrome type finish but it is not the high quality reflective chrome finish as the $8,500 system offers.

However, the simple system can use regular paint spray equipment which you may already have, or can get for a lot less than $8,500, and they tell me the finished product looks almost as good.

Which system is right for you depends on what you need to do.
